What are Motiva implants?

Motiva is one of the world’s most innovative manufacturers of breast implants (Motiva breast augmentation). Their implants are characterised by a highly elastic and soft silicone gel that mimics the natural movement of breast tissue. They are designed with an extremely strong shell and a smooth, biocompatible surface that is developed to minimise complications and offer a soft, anatomical appearance.

Our techniques using Motiva implants

We use the most well-documented and innovative implants on the market to ensure high quality. Your plastic surgeon will analyse your tissue to recommend the profile best suited to your body.

Motiva Ergonomix & Ergonomix 2

These implants are designed to mimic the natural movement of the breast. The silicone gel adapts to the body’s position – it takes on a teardrop shape when you are standing and becomes rounder when you are lying down, giving an exceptionally soft and natural feel.

Motiva Round

For patients who wish for a fuller appearance, particularly in the upper part of the breast, a round implant provides a more defined contour and a firmer underlying tissue structure.

Gentle approach

Whether we use Motiva Ergonomix or Round, our plastic surgeons employ refined surgical techniques that minimise trauma to the tissue. By creating precise pockets for the implants and using minimal incisions, we operate with the utmost care. A meticulous approach is absolutely crucial to reducing bleeding, minimising swelling and ensuring that the implant is integrated into exactly the right layer of tissue for a smooth and long-lasting result.

Motiva Implant Consultation

Your patient journey begins with a consultation with a plastic surgeon. We will take precise measurements of your chest and discuss the ideal volume to ensure the results are proportionate to your body. You will be able to feel the difference between various profiles (such as Motiva Ergonomix and Motiva Round) and we will go through all the medical facts.

You will receive a specific treatment proposal based on your body. After the appointment, you will have a statutory reflection period of at least 7 days to decide in peace and quiet whether you want to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

Motiva implants
Step by step

We have a clear and reliable process, from your first visit right through to your final check-up, to ensure you feel fully prepared.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

You will meet with your plastic surgeon to assess your suitability. We will try out different implant sizes in a sports bra and decide together on the placement (in front of or behind the chest muscle) based on the thickness of your tissue.

Before your procedure

Preparing for a safe operation

You will receive detailed instructions from our clinic. You must refrain from smoking and taking certain medications in the weeks leading up to the procedure. On the evening before and on the morning of the operation, you should shower thoroughly using antibacterial soap (Descutan).

The day of the operation

Safe care at the clinic

The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic. The plastic surgeon makes a discreet incision, usually in the breast crease, and creates a precisely tailored pocket into which your Motiva breast implant is gently inserted.

After the operation

Awakening and initial rest

You will wake up safely in our recovery room. It is normal to feel a bit queasy, and to experience tenderness and swelling across your chest. You will be given painkillers and monitored by our staff until you are ready to go home.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

For the first few weeks, you will need to wear a supportive sports bra around the clock. You must not lift heavy objects or take part in strenuous exercise during the first four weeks to allow the implants to settle into the correct position undisturbed.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

You will have your first follow-up appointment in about seven days so that the nurse can check your incisions. After about six months, you will see your plastic surgeon again for a final check-up and to have photographs taken.

Results of Motiva implants

The new volume (the results of Motiva implants) is visible immediately, but the breasts will initially be swollen and sit relatively high. It usually takes three to six months for the muscles to relax and for the implants to ‘settle’ and assume their final, anatomical position.

Our breast surgery specialists

At The Faculty, you will be looked after by a team of plastic surgeons with cutting-edge expertise in implant surgery. Placing an implant correctly requires an exceptional understanding of the body’s dynamics and the limitations of the tissue. Our plastic surgeons’ in-depth anatomical expertise is your absolute best guarantee of a safe operation and a balanced result.

Who is eligible for the procedure?

To undergo the procedure, you must be at least 18 years old and in good health. The procedure is suitable for patients who wish to restore or increase their breast volume. During the consultation, a thorough assessment will be made of your physical condition, the thickness of your breast tissue and your general health. Due to the high demands on blood circulation required for good wound healing, you must be a non-smoker at the time of the operation.

Risks and complications

All surgical procedures carry risks. General surgical risks include infection or bleeding. A common question concerns the safety of Motiva implants and whether Motiva implants are dangerous. One of the most well-known risks associated with breast implants is capsular contracture (Motiva capsular contracture), which means that the body’s natural scar tissue around the implant becomes hard. Motiva implants have an advanced nano-textured surface (SmoothSilk) which, in clinical studies, has been shown to significantly reduce inflammation and lower the risk of capsular contracture.

Other treatments

If you wish to avoid implants altogether, we offer breast augmentation using your own fat (fat transfer). For patients who feel that their breasts have lost their shape and started to sag, for example after breastfeeding, our plastic surgeons often recommend a breast lift – which, if necessary, can be combined with a small implant to restore volume to the upper part of the breast.

Why choose Motiva breast implants?

The reasons for seeking breast augmentation are always personal. Many of our patients request a specific shape, volume or feel, and the choice of implant plays a major role in the final result. Some seek a soft and supple teardrop shape, whilst others prefer a more pronounced fullness in the upper pole of the breast. By offering high-tech options such as Motiva, we can meet these personal preferences in a medically safe way, based entirely on your unique anatomical characteristics.

Frequently asked questions about Motiva and breast implants

Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers about breast augmentation using your own fat

What is the difference: Mentor or Motiva?

Both Mentor and Motiva (Motiva or Mentor) are world-leading, FDA- and CE-approved implants of the highest quality. The choice depends on the feel and shape you desire. Motiva is often softer and more dynamic, whilst Mentor offers a wider range of firm, anatomical (teardrop-shaped) implants.

What is the difference between Motiva Ergonomix and Motiva Round?

Motiva Round implants are completely round and provide greater fullness in the upper pole of the breast (the cleavage). Motiva Ergonomix implants are round in shape but contain a more fluid gel that allows them to take on a teardrop shape when you stand up, giving a more natural appearance.

What is the Motiva Ergonomix 2 like?

Ergonomix 2 is the next generation of Motiva implants. They are even softer, have an even more flexible shell and adapt even more closely to your natural movements compared to the first generation.

What are the most common side effects (Motiva implants review)?

The most common side effects immediately after the operation are temporary swelling, a feeling of tightness and reduced sensation in the nipples. The risk of long-term complications, such as capsular contracture, is statistically very low with Motiva.

Can you breastfeed with Motiva breast implants?

The ability to breastfeed can be affected by breast surgery, but this usually depends more on the plastic surgeon’s technique (where the incision is made) than on the implant itself. This is an important point that we will discuss during your consultation.

When will the final results of the implants be visible?

It usually takes three to six months for the chest muscle to relax completely and for the implants to soften and settle into their permanent, natural position within the tissue.
