What does arm liposuction involve?
Arm liposuction is a tried-and-tested, minimally invasive procedure that permanently removes genetically determined fat deposits on the upper arms or around the armpits. The procedure is performed via millimetre-sized incisions, through which a fine cannula gently suctions out the fat cells. The method is best suited to those with relatively firm skin that can retract afterwards. During your consultation, we will examine your tissue to ensure that the method is suitable for you and will produce a smooth, natural result.
Our methods for arm liposuction
We use modern, gentle and safe surgical techniques to achieve smooth and proportionate contours. During your consultation, we will carry out a thorough assessment of your skin’s elasticity to ensure the best possible outcome.
Liposuction of the upper arms
Through very small, strategically placed incisions, a thin cannula is inserted to gently remove the deep fat deposits. The procedure results in minimal scarring.
Armpit liposuction
Fat deposits often extend towards the back or front of the armpit. We can treat this area at the same time to create a smooth transition towards the back and chest.
In combination with arm lift surgery
If there is a significant amount of excess skin, liposuction alone is sometimes not enough. In such cases, the procedure can be combined with an upper arm lift, in which loose skin is surgically removed.
A clinic full of expertise
At The Faculty, you’ll have access to plastic surgery specialists with extensive experience in limb surgery and skin tightening. Our entire clinic is characterised by medical safety, tried-and-tested techniques and open, honest communication. We guide you objectively through your anatomical options, so that you feel completely confident about having liposuction on your arms or undergoing a surgical lift.
Price for arm liposuction
The cost of the treatment depends on the number of areas being treated and whether the procedure is carried out in conjunction with other surgery. You will always receive a precise and binding quote in writing following your clinical examination.

The Evolution of You
Arm liposuction
Step by step
To ensure you feel fully prepared, we have a clear and reliable process in place, from your first visit right through to your final follow-up appointment.
01. Consultation
Medical assessment and choice of method
You will meet with a plastic surgery specialist for a clinical assessment of your upper arms and underarms. We will measure the extent of the fat deposits and assess the skin’s natural elasticity to ensure that liposuction is the optimal method for you, rather than open arm surgery. You will receive a detailed explanation of the entire process, expected results and risks.
02. Before your procedure
Preparing for a safe operation
Once your statutory seven-day reflection period has passed and you have given your consent, the date of your operation will be booked. Our coordinator will provide you with written instructions. You should avoid smoking and alcohol for at least four weeks prior to the procedure to optimise healing. The evening before and on the morning of the operation, you should shower at home using a recommended antibacterial soap.
03. The day of the operation
Safe care at the clinic
Upon arrival at our modern clinic, you will be looked after by our team. You will change into surgical clothing and meet your plastic surgeon and anaesthetist for final marking, planning and photography of the surgical area. The operation is usually performed under general anaesthesia, but in some cases may be carried out under local anaesthesia with sedation. The procedure generally takes between one and two hours.
04. After the operation
Awakening and initial rest
You will wake up in our recovery room, where a nurse will monitor your initial recovery. It is perfectly normal to experience some tenderness, swelling and tightness in your arms immediately afterwards. We apply a customised compression bandage over the treated areas to minimise swelling. You will be given pain relief and can go home the same day.
05. Recovery & healing
Self-care and convalescence guidelines
During the first few weeks at home, you should rest and avoid heavy lifting or intense, high-intensity exercise. The compression garment should be worn consistently around the clock during the first few weeks, in accordance with your surgeon’s instructions, to support the tissue. The very small incision sites heal quickly and, after a while, leave minimal, barely visible scars.
06. Monitoring & results
Medical check-up and final assessment
After about a week, an initial follow-up appointment with a nurse will be booked to check the wound. After around six months, you will see the surgeon who performed your operation for a final check-up. We will then assess the final anatomical result and skin retraction, and take a final set of photographs to compare with the images taken before the procedure.
Results of arm liposuction
Following arm liposuction, most people notice an objective reduction in localised volume as well as a smoother contour along the upper arm. The final anatomical result is largely determined by your individual circumstances, such as the skin’s natural elasticity and how the tissue recovers in the months following the procedure. As the treated fat cells are permanently removed, the physical change in the treated area is long-term, provided your weight remains stable. It is important to have realistic expectations and to understand that the body’s healing process is gradual. The initial swelling subsides during the first few weeks, but the tissue continues to adapt over a longer period. The final result is therefore only assessed at a final medical check-up at the clinic after approximately six months.

Plastic surgeryWho is eligible for arm liposuction?
To undergo surgery, you must be over 18 years of age and in good general health. During the consultation, we will carry out an individual assessment of your physical condition. If you have recently lost a significant amount of weight, we recommend that your weight has been stable for at least six months before planning an arm lift.
Risks associated with arm liposuction
Every surgical procedure carries certain medical risks. Following upper arm liposuction, temporary swelling, subcutaneous bleeding (bruising) and temporary numbness may occur in the treated area. There is also a small risk of infection, as well as minor asymmetries or unevenness in the skin’s contours. During your consultation, your surgeon will carefully go through all potential complications and explain how our strict medical procedures and preventive measures at The Faculty minimise these risks for your peace of mind.
Other treatments in arm surgery
In addition to arm liposuction, we at The Faculty offer a full range of body contouring procedures for the upper body. If you are troubled by a significant amount of excess skin following weight loss, traditional arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) may be the most effective option. We also perform targeted procedures such as armpit liposuction or combination procedures to create a smooth transition based on your unique anatomical characteristics.

What is arm liposuction?
Arm liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to reduce localised fat deposits on the upper arms and adjacent areas such as the armpits. Through millimetre-sized incisions, very thin cannulas are inserted to gently and permanently remove fat cells that are often difficult to target through diet and exercise alone. To achieve a smooth and natural result, it is crucial that your skin has good natural elasticity so that it can contract and adapt to the new volume. During a consultation with a plastic surgery specialist, a medical assessment of your anatomical conditions is carried out to ensure that the method is suitable for your particular body.

Frequently asked questions about arm liposuction
Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions and answers regarding arm liposuction
How much does arm liposuction cost?
The price for arm liposuction is 39,500 SEK. If you also need to treat adjacent areas such as the armpit, or if your skin requires an arm lift (63,500 SEK), there will be an additional charge for this. You will be given an exact quote during your consultation.
Will there be large scars after liposuction on the upper arms?
No, the cannulas used are very thin. The insertion points are only a few millimetres wide and are placed discreetly on the arm. Once healed, these small dots fade and, in most cases, become barely visible.
Can you have liposuction on your arms through the local health authority?
Cosmetic liposuction or arm lift surgery is, in principle, never approved by the county council (region), unless there are extreme medical or functional reasons following major bariatric surgery. The Faculty is a private clinic.
How long will I need to wear a compression bandage afterwards?
It is usually recommended that you wear the compression garment around the clock for the first three to four weeks, and then during the day for a few more weeks. This is essential for reducing swelling and helping the skin to adjust.
What is the difference between liposuction and an upper arm lift?
Liposuction only removes fat cells and requires skin that retains its elasticity. An upper arm lift (brachioplasty) is performed when there is actual excess skin (sagging skin) that needs to be surgically removed, which leaves a longer scar.
When will the final results be visible after the operation?
You can see a noticeable difference straight away, but initially your arms will be swollen. Most of the swelling will subside within six weeks, but the tissue will continue to settle and the skin will tighten over a period of up to six months, by which time the final check-up will take place.
Could the fat come back on my arms afterwards?
The fat cells that are removed are gone for good, as the body does not regenerate fat cells in the same place in adulthood. However, any remaining fat cells may enlarge if you gain weight in the future.
