Volume enhancement with fillers
If the lines have become deep and static (visible even when the face is completely relaxed), supplementary treatments are sometimes required; these are often referred to internationally as ‘fillers for bunny lines’ or a ‘bunny lines filler’. Hyaluronic acid can then be used to provide gentle support beneath the skin, although botulinum toxin is always the standard treatment.

A successful clinical outcome begins with a thorough consultation with one of our specialists. We assess the condition of your skin and ask you to wrinkle your nose vigorously to assess the activity of the nasal muscles. You will receive objective medical information regarding expectations, the procedure and aftercare.
After the consultation, you have a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours (which applies to aesthetic injection treatments) to allow you to decide in your own time whether you wish to give your consent.

Medical assessment and choice of method
The practitioner will carry out a thorough assessment of your facial muscles (Musculus nasalis). We analyse how the skin folds to determine the exact dosage and avoid the muscles that lift the upper lip.

Preparations for safe treatment
To minimise the risk of infection, the skin over the bridge of the nose is thoroughly disinfected with chlorhexidine. The specific injection sites are then marked.
The treatment
Safe care at the clinic
Patients often wonder how the procedure is carried out from a technical point of view. We use extremely fine, short micro-needles to inject the medication very superficially on either side of the bridge of the nose. The treatment takes just a few minutes and is very gentle.
After treatment
The area is examined clinically. Very slight and temporary redness may occur around the injection sites, but the skin recovers quickly.

You must follow strict aftercare instructions. Do not touch the area around your nose and do not wear any make-up for the first 12 hours. Avoid strenuous exercise and saunas for 24 hours to prevent the medication from spreading.

What are bunny lines?
Bunny lines are the diagonal and horizontal wrinkles that appear high up on the bridge of the nose, next to the inner corner of the eye, when you laugh, squint or wrinkle your nose.
Why is it called a rabbit's nose?
The term originates from English, where the muscle movement is likened to the way a rabbit twitches its nose (bunny lines on the nose). ‘Kaninnäsa’ is the direct Swedish translation of this clinically accepted term.
Are wrinkles around the nose best treated with botulinum toxin or fillers?
The standard medical treatment is botulinum toxin, which works as a muscle relaxant by stopping the movement that causes the wrinkles. However, if you have very deep lines, a complementary volume-restoring treatment with hyaluronic acid (bunny line filler) may be considered to provide the skin with extra support.
Does it hurt to treat the area above the nose?
No, the area above the bridge of the nose is relatively insensitive compared with other parts of the face. Furthermore, as we use microscopically thin needles, the injection is usually felt as a very slight, quick and fleeting prick.
Will the treatment affect my smile or my breathing?
When the treatment is carried out by qualified specialists with the necessary anatomical knowledge, neither your breathing nor your smile will be affected. The medication is injected superficially into the nasal muscle, at a safe distance from the muscles that control the upper lip and the airways of the nostrils.
Can wrinkles appear on the nose following treatment for a frown line?
Yes, this is a well-known phenomenon sometimes referred to as compensatory muscle activity. When the muscles between the eyebrows (the frown line) are weakened, some patients may unconsciously start to use the nasal muscles more when expressing emotions. That is why we often choose to treat both areas at the same time.
How long does the effect last?
The clinical effect of botulinum toxin in the nasal muscle usually lasts between 3 and 4 months. After that, the drug is naturally broken down by the body and the muscle’s range of motion gradually returns to its original state.
