What are Profhilo and skin boosters?

Both Profhilo and skin boosters are aesthetic injection treatments based on synthetic hyaluronic acid. They differ from traditional fillers in that they do not add volume or physically reshape facial features. Instead, they are distributed over a larger area of the tissue to act as a deep moisturising treatment. The aim is to support the skin’s natural structure, stimulate cell renewal and improve skin quality from within.

Our methods for Profhilo and Skinboosters

We use well-established methods and products of the highest medical quality. Depending on your skin’s needs, we will assess whether Profhilo, Profhilo Structura or a traditional skin booster is the most suitable option for you.

Profhilo

This method uses a high concentration of hyaluronic acid to stimulate the skin’s own production of collagen and elastin. It is injected into specific anatomical points (the BAP technique) and spreads evenly throughout the tissue to improve moisture balance and skin texture, without adding volume.

Profhilo Structura

An advanced version of the traditional Profhilo treatment, designed to work at a deeper level and provide a noticeable, firming effect on the fatty tissue. The method is used when there is a need for more advanced structural improvement in the face.

Skinbooster

A collective term for thinner hyaluronic acids that are injected more superficially into the skin in the form of microdroplets. The aim is to lock in moisture long-term and create a smoother skin surface, often focusing on specific areas such as the cheeks, the area under the eyes or the décolletage.

Gentle methods

Whether the aim is a subtle hydration boost or a restorative treatment, our injection specialists use refined techniques that minimise stress on the tissue. By using microscopically thin needles or blunt cannulas, we work very gently. A meticulous approach is crucial to reducing bleeding, minimising swelling and ensuring that the filler integrates safely and naturally into the skin.

Pre-treatment consultation

The first step is a consultation with one of our injection specialists, either online or in person at the clinic. During the consultation, you will receive medical information about the treatments, any potential risks and an analysis of your skin condition. We will then provide you with a personalised treatment plan.

After the consultation, you have a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours (which applies to aesthetic injection treatments) to allow you to decide in your own time whether you wish to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

Profhilo & Skinbooster
Step by step

To ensure you know exactly what to expect, we have a clear process for all injections, from start to finish.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

You will meet with an injection specialist for a clinical assessment of your skin condition. Together, you will go through your health declaration and assess whether Profhilo, Structura or a traditional skin booster is best suited to your needs.

Preparations

Preparations for safe treatment

We recommend that you avoid blood-thinning medication, omega-3 supplements and alcohol for a few days beforehand to reduce the risk of bruising. At the clinic, your skin will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with chlorhexidine to ensure a sterile environment.

The treatment

Safe care at the clinic

The treatment is carried out using very fine needles. Profhilo is often injected into five specific anatomical points on each side of the face, whilst a skin booster is distributed in small micro-droplets across a selected area. The treatment itself takes around 15–30 minutes.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands and wait at least 12 hours before applying make-up to minimise the risk of infection. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, saunas and extreme cold for the first 48 hours.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

Hyaluronic acid needs time to be properly absorbed. A full course of treatment often requires two sessions, a few weeks apart. At a follow-up appointment, we assess the skin’s new texture and moisture balance to ensure that everything looks good.

Results following treatment

This treatment works by stimulating the skin’s own production of collagen and elastin. You will often notice improved hydration and firmness after just a few weeks, but the full, final results of a course of treatment will only become apparent around 8–12 weeks after your first visit. The skin will then feel softer, firmer and have a smoother texture. Hyaluronic acid is gradually broken down by the body’s natural metabolism. How quickly this happens varies from person to person. After a full course of treatment, the effects of Profhilo and skin boosters generally last between six and twelve months. To maintain the quality of your skin and the stimulating effect, we recommend regular maintenance treatments thereafter, usually once or twice a year.

Our specialists in injections

Every treatment is carried out with the utmost medical precision, which forms the basis of your safety. Below, you can read more about the experts you will meet at our clinic.

Who can undergo the treatment?

To undergo an aesthetic injection treatment, you must be over 18 and in good health. As a medical precaution, we do not treat women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. During your consultation, the practitioner will carry out an assessment to ensure that the procedure is suitable for you. If you have an active infection or certain specific skin conditions, the treatment may need to be postponed for your own safety.

Complications and risks

As with all injection treatments, the procedure carries certain medical risks. The most common side effects are harmless and temporary; these include redness, slight swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection sites. More rare complications may include a superficial infection. The risk of vascular occlusion is exceptionally low with these more superficial treatments, but we always work on the basis of in-depth anatomical knowledge and have access to emergency medication to ensure a safe procedure.

Why consider Profhilo injection treatment?

The motivation behind seeking a dermal filler treatment is personal. Many people wish to deeply hydrate their skin, particularly when ageing or external factors have affected its elasticity and structure. Others seek a subtle lift without altering the volume or basic features of the face. It is a matter of your personal choice and how you wish to care for your skin. We listen carefully to your expectations to design a treatment plan that is fully tailored to your individual anatomy.

Frequently asked questions about Profhilo and Skinboosters

Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about Profhilo and Skinboosters.

How much does Profhilo cost?

The price for a Profhilo treatment starts at 4,200 SEK, whilst a traditional skin booster starts at 3,600 SEK. Your exact cost will be determined following a clinical assessment of how many treatments are recommended for your skin.

What is the difference between Profhilo and Skinbooster?

A skin booster is usually injected as tiny microdroplets over a larger area to lock in moisture. Profhilo is injected at five specific points on each side of the face and then spreads naturally through the tissue. Profhilo also focuses primarily on stimulating the skin’s own collagen and elastin.

What side effects can Profhilo cause?

The most common side effects are bruising, redness and slight swelling. It is also normal to experience small, temporary raised areas (similar to mosquito bites) at the injection sites immediately after treatment. These usually subside within 24 hours.

Does the treatment hurt?

Pain is an individual experience. The injections feel like small pricks, and you may feel a slight tingling sensation as the hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin. For your comfort, we always offer a numbing cream before the treatment begins, if you wish.

How long do the results last?

The duration of the results depends on your age, the condition of your skin and your lifestyle. Once the recommended initial course of treatment (usually two sessions) has been completed, the effects of Profhilo often last for six months, after which maintenance treatments are recommended.

Is Profhilo a filler?

No. Although Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid, it is not cross-linked, which means it is not designed to add mechanical volume or alter facial contours. It is a tissue-stimulating moisturising treatment.
