What does nose reshaping with fillers (Liquid Rhinoplasty) involve?

A nose reshaping procedure using fillers (often referred to internationally as liquid rhinoplasty or non-surgical rhinoplasty) is a minimally invasive injection treatment. By strategically placing small, precise amounts of synthetic hyaluronic acid under the skin of the nose, it is possible to temporarily alter its shape. The aim is to smooth out contours, add volume where it is lacking and create an optical illusion of a straighter and more harmonious nose; at our clinic, this treatment is performed by our plastic surgeons.

Our methods for nose fillers

To achieve an anatomically balanced and safe result, our practitioners work exclusively with high-quality, well-documented hyaluronic acid of a firmer consistency, which is required to mimic the bone and cartilage structure of the nose.

Profile smoothing

By filling in the area above and below a bump on the bridge of the nose, a straight line is created.

Lifting the tip of the nose

By injecting filler at the base of the nose (the columella) and into the tip itself, it is possible to create a subtle mechanical lift.

A nose that appears narrower

To create a slimmer-looking nose from the front, a thin line of filler is injected along the bridge of the nose, which catches the light and makes the nose appear more defined.

Gentle technology and medical precision

The nose has an extremely complex vascular anatomy. Regardless of the type of correction being performed, our injection specialists use refined micro-techniques and blunt-tipped needles. A deep and precise approach is absolutely crucial to avoid complications, minimise swelling and ensure that your nose filler integrates safely into the tissue.

Pre-treatment consultation

The first step is a consultation with one of our injection specialists. You can choose whether to book a virtual appointment or meet us in person at the clinic. During the appointment, you will receive medical information about risks, current waiting times and which techniques are best suited to you. You will receive a specific treatment proposal based on your facial anatomy.

After the consultation, you have a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours (which applies to aesthetic injection treatments) to allow you to decide in your own time whether you wish to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

Injection into the nose
Step by step

To ensure you feel confident and well prepared, we have a clear and reliable process in place, from your first visit right through to your final follow-up appointment. Here, we provide an overview of how a nose reshaping treatment using fillers works at our clinic, from start to finish.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

Your practitioner will carry out a thorough clinical assessment of the anatomy of your nose, the thickness of your skin and your expectations. We will go through your health declaration.

Preparations

Preparing for a safe operation

We will check that you have not taken any blood-thinning medication in the last few days. Your nose will then be cleaned and disinfected with chlorhexidine to ensure a sterile working area.

The treatment

Safe care at the clinic

The skin and underlying tissue of the nose are tight. We often use a blunt cannula or very fine needles to inject the filler, which contains a local anaesthetic, deep into the bone or cartilage with extreme care. The treatment usually takes 15–30 minutes.

After treatment

Awakening and initial rest

The area will be carefully examined to ensure good blood circulation. You will be able to see the immediate results in a mirror, and we will discuss the expected swelling.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

Avoid touching your nose, do not wear heavy glasses that press against the bridge of your nose during the first few weeks, and refrain from strenuous exercise and saunas for the first 48 hours to minimise swelling and the risk of the filler shifting.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

The final, comprehensive results are fully assessed at a follow-up appointment approximately two weeks later.

Results after a nose filler

The results of a nose reshaping treatment using fillers are visible immediately. However, it is important to understand the body’s natural healing process. Immediately after the treatment, it is normal for the nose to be swollen and slightly red, and for minor bruising to occur. This initial tissue reaction may make the nose appear temporarily wider than the actual final result. After approximately 14 days, the hyaluronic acid will have integrated with your own tissue and the swelling will have subsided completely.

Our specialists in injections

At The Faculty, all injection treatments are performed exclusively by qualified doctors and qualified injection nurses. Performing a nose correction using fillers is one of the most advanced procedures in aesthetic injection medicine due to the nose’s complex network of blood vessels. Our specialists possess in-depth anatomical knowledge and extensive clinical experience of this specific treatment. This is absolutely crucial for identifying risk areas, selecting the correct injection technique and ensuring your medical safety throughout the entire process.

Who can undergo the treatment?

To undergo an injection treatment, you must be over 18 years of age, in good health, and not be pregnant or breastfeeding. If you have previously undergone surgical nose surgery (rhinoplasty), this must be discussed in detail with the doctor during the consultation, as previous surgery alters the blood vessel structure of the nose and thus significantly increases the risks associated with future injections.

Complications and risks

Common, harmless side effects include swelling and bruising. However, the nose is one of the most high-risk areas of the face for injection. If filler is accidentally injected into, or compresses, one of the nose’s blood vessels, it can lead to vascular occlusion (lack of oxygen in the tissue). In extremely rare cases, this can affect blood vessels leading to the eye, which is why searches such as “fillers make you go blind” exist. At The Faculty, we minimise these risks through in-depth anatomical knowledge, the use of the correct techniques (such as blunt-tipped needles) and by always having the emergency medication Hyalase (which immediately dissolves the filler) to hand.

Other treatments for profile balancing

A nose reshape using fillers is often part of a wider facial contouring procedure. It is very common to combine a nose treatment with fillers in the chin to create a straighter and more proportionate line in the face when viewed from the side. If your anatomical structure is such that a filler is not sufficient to achieve the desired result, our plastic surgeons may instead recommend traditional surgical rhinoplasty.

Why consider nose fillers?

The nose is the focal point of the face and has a significant impact on the overall appearance of the profile. Many people come to us because they have a small bump on the bridge of the nose, asymmetry following a previous injury (crooked nose fillers), or a nose tip that points downwards (nose tip fillers). Another common request concerns the perception of a wide nose (fillers for a wide nose). Although a filler physically adds volume, by placing the product precisely along the midline of the bridge of the nose, it is possible to create a light reflection that gives the illusion of a narrower nose with fillers. The motivation behind seeking treatment is highly personal, and we always take your unique anatomical features into account.

Frequently asked questions about fillers

Here we have compiled some frequently asked questions about nose reshaping using fillers

How long do nose fillers last?

As the nose is an area with very little muscle activity compared to, for example, the lips, the results of nose fillers last a very long time. The results usually last between 12 and 18 months, and sometimes longer, before the body gradually breaks down the hyaluronic acid.

Can you make your nose narrower with fillers?

Yes, visually. Fillers add physical volume, so the nose doesn’t actually become smaller in terms of measurements. But by injecting a precise, thin line along the bridge of the nose, we create a reflection of light. This tricks the eye and creates the illusion of a straighter and narrower nose when viewed from the front.

What is the difference between liquid rhinoplasty and non-surgical rhinoplasty?

There is no difference. Both are English medical terms for exactly the same procedure: a non-surgical nose reshaping procedure carried out using hyaluronic acid fillers.

Can an asymmetrical nose be corrected (using fillers)?

Yes, if the nose leans slightly to one side, we can strategically place filler on the opposite side, or in the indentations that cause the asymmetry, to visually straighten the bridge of the nose.

I’ve read about the risks on forums (nose fillers on Flashback); how common is it?

There is a great deal written online, often due to treatments carried out by untrained individuals. The anatomy of the nose is complex, and serious complications such as skin necrosis or impaired vision are extremely rare but theoretically possible. The risk is greatly minimised when the treatment is carried out by qualified healthcare professionals with a thorough understanding of vascular anatomy.

Does the injection hurt?

Many people experience a slight feeling of tightness because the skin on the bridge of the nose is taut, but the actual pain is often minimal. The hyaluronic acid we use contains a local anaesthetic, which means the area becomes numb as the treatment progresses.

Is it possible to lift a drooping nose (nasal tip filler)?

Yes. By injecting a small amount of filler at the base of the nose (where the nose meets the upper lip) and at the very tip of the nose, we can provide the tip with subtle, mechanical support that lifts it slightly upwards.
