What does treatment with fillers involve?

Fillers are usually made from synthetic hyaluronic acid. This is a moisture-binding sugar molecule that occurs naturally in the body. Depending on how the filler is formulated (cross-linked), it can be tailored to either provide firm, structural support to bony areas such as the cheekbones and chin, or to give soft volume and flexibility to the lips.

Our methods for volume and contour

We use only market-leading, well-documented hyaluronic acid. Our injection specialists carefully assess which product is medically best suited to your skin and your aesthetic goals.

Julaine of Sweden

We also offer innovative treatment options from Julaine for patients seeking targeted tissue integration and skin rejuvenation.

Balancing proportions

By strategically placing carefully measured volumes (for example, 1 ml or 2 ml of fillers above the cheekbones), we can achieve a visual lift and restore a balanced structure to the entire face.

Gentle methods

Whether we are restoring volume to the cheekbones or defining the jawline, our injection specialists use refined techniques to minimise the impact on your tissue. By typically working with blunt needles in specific anatomical layers, we can administer the filler extremely gently. A meticulous approach is absolutely crucial to reducing bleeding, minimising the risk of swelling and ensuring that the hyaluronic acid integrates correctly for a safe and long-lasting result.

Pre-treatment consultation

It all starts with a consultation with a qualified specialist, either online or in person. We analyse your facial structure and discuss whether, for example, 1 ml or 2 ml of cheekbone fillers are medically appropriate for you. You will receive detailed information about the various products, risks and realistic expectations.

After the consultation, you have a statutory cooling-off period of at least 48 hours (which applies to aesthetic injection treatments) to allow you to decide in your own time whether you wish to give your consent.

Fillers in the cheekbones and chin
Step by step

To ensure you feel well looked after and know exactly what to expect, we follow a strict and safe procedure for our injections.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

Your practitioner will assess your body proportions and determine which product is best suited to your needs. We will also go through your health declaration in detail.

Preparations

Preparations for safe treatment

To reduce the risk of bruising, you should avoid taking blood-thinning medication and omega-3 supplements in the days leading up to the procedure. At the clinic, your face will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with chlorhexidine.

The treatment

Safe care at the clinic

The product, which often contains a built-in local anaesthetic, is injected deeply and gently beneath the skin. When treating the cheekbones or chin, the filler is injected close to the bone using a fine needle or a blunt cannula to provide optimal structural support.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

Things to bear in mind after cheekbone fillers: Avoid touching the injection sites and do not apply make-up for the first 12 hours. You should also avoid strenuous exercise and saunas for the next two days.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

Swelling following cheekbone fillers is common in the first few days, but the tissue will have healed after around two weeks. At that point, the final result can be fully assessed during a follow-up appointment, if required.

Results following treatment

The results of hyaluronic acid are visible immediately, but it can take up to two weeks for the gel to attract moisture and become fully integrated into the tissue. The longevity of firmer fillers, such as Restylane Voluma for cheekbones, is very good and usually lasts between 12 and 18 months, sometimes longer, before the body gradually breaks down the substance.

Our specialists in injections

At The Faculty, all treatments are carried out by a hand-picked team of qualified doctors and nurses. Working with the deep volume and contours of the face requires an advanced understanding of bone structure, fat pads and blood vessels. Our high level of clinical expertise is your best guarantee of a medically safe procedure.

Who can undergo the treatment?

To undergo treatment with fillers, you must be over 18 and in good health. The procedure is suitable for patients who wish to restore volume or define specific facial features. For medical safety reasons, we never treat people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or who have an active infection in the treatment area.

Complications and risks

All cosmetic injections carry medical risks (such as the risks associated with cheekbone fillers). The most common are temporary swelling, tenderness and bruising. More serious complications, such as vascular occlusion (where the gel accidentally blocks a blood vessel), are extremely rare but theoretically possible. By applying in-depth anatomical knowledge and using blunt-tipped needles, our specialists significantly minimise this risk. We also always have the emergency medication Hyalase on hand so that we can immediately dissolve the hyaluronic acid if necessary.

Other treatments for profile and texture

A volume-restoring treatment using fillers is often part of a wider treatment plan. Depending on your facial structure, our experts may also recommend muscle-relaxing injections or biostimulators (such as Juläine or Sculptra) to build up the skin’s own collagen over the long term. If you require more permanent changes, you can also book a surgical consultation with our plastic surgery specialists.

Why have a facial filler treatment?

The decision to undergo a volume treatment is often based on a desire to balance the proportions of the face. Many people come to us to enhance their cheekbones, create a more defined profile with fillers in the chin, or achieve a subtle facelift with fillers above the temples and along the jawline. As we age, the skin and fat pads lose their natural volume, and for many, the choice is about restoring this support. Our aim is to understand your specific anatomical features and, through open dialogue, develop a safe treatment plan based on your expectations.

Frequently asked questions about fillers

Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about fillers.

How much do cheek and chin fillers cost?

Prices start at SEK 4,500. The exact total cost depends on how many millilitres your practitioner estimates are needed to build adequate support in your specific tissue.

How many millilitres are needed for the cheekbones and chin?

It varies greatly from person to person. Some achieve a balanced result with 1 ml (0.5 ml per side), whilst patients with greater volume loss may need 2 ml or more (2 ml of cheekbone filler) to restore the correct proportions.

Does it hurt to have fillers injected into the chin and cheekbones?

The procedure is usually virtually painless. Most modern fillers contain the local anaesthetic lidocaine, which numbs the area as the injection is administered.

What is normal swelling after cheekbone fillers?

It is perfectly normal for the skin over the cheekbones to feel tight, tender and swollen in the first few days after the treatment. This initial tissue reaction will gradually subside over the coming weeks.

How should I sleep after having cheek fillers?

To avoid putting pressure on the filler and to minimise unnecessary swelling, we recommend that you sleep on your back, preferably with your head slightly raised on an extra pillow, for the first 2–3 nights.
