What does male genital surgery involve?

Male genital surgery encompasses both cosmetic and functional procedures in the male genital area. The most common aesthetic procedure is surgical penile enlargement (penis enlargement), which focuses on increasing the girth, often in combination with penile lengthening to make the penis appear longer. We also perform procedures for medical and functional reasons. These include, for example, frenulumplasty to correct a short frenulum, as well as adult male circumcision in cases of phimosis. The decision to undergo penile surgery is always preceded by a careful and thorough clinical analysis of your anatomy to determine which method is medically appropriate.

Our methods for penile surgery

To ensure a safe and long-lasting result, our surgeons always take your individual tissue structures into account. We use different techniques depending on whether the aim is aesthetic augmentation or functional correction.

Penis enlargement surgery

To increase the girth (thickness) of the penis, we generally use an autologous fat transfer. This involves the surgeon gently extracting the patient’s own fat (often from the abdomen), purifying it and injecting it under the skin of the penile shaft.

Penis enlargement

This procedure involves the surgeon releasing the internal ligaments that attach the penis to the pubic bone. As a result, a larger portion of the penis drops forward and becomes visible, creating greater length when flaccid.

Adult circumcision in Stockholm

Phimosis can be effectively treated by surgically removing the foreskin. We offer safe circumcision in Stockholm for men over the age of 18.

Frenulumplasty

A quick and precise procedure in which a short frenulum beneath the glans is lengthened, immediately reducing pain and tightness during an erection.

Gentle technology and medical precision

Regardless of the surgical technique used, our specialists work with microsurgical instruments that minimise trauma to the mucous membrane and blood vessels. A gentle approach is absolutely crucial for reducing bleeding, promoting safe healing and ensuring discreet scarring.

Consultation before your operation

The first step is a consultation with a plastic surgery specialist. You choose whether you want to book an online appointment or meet us in person at the clinic. During the appointment, you will be given medical information about risks, current waiting times and which techniques are best for you.

You will receive a specific treatment proposal based on your body. After the appointment, you will have a statutory reflection period of at least 7 days to decide in peace and quiet whether you want to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

Penis enlargement
Step by step

To ensure you feel confident and well prepared, we have a clear and reliable process in place, from your first visit right through to your final follow-up appointment. Here, we provide an overview of how our penile enlargement procedure works, from start to finish.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

The surgeon will examine your anatomy and determine whether the procedure is right for you. We will discuss the medical risks and your expectations openly.

Before your procedure

Preparing for a safe operation

You will be given instructions on hygiene procedures and required to stop smoking (at least 4 weeks before and after the procedure). This is non-negotiable to ensure proper wound healing and to ensure that the fat survives.

The day of the operation

Safe care at the clinic

You will be admitted to the clinic. Major procedures are usually carried out under general anaesthetic, whilst minor procedures such as frenuloplasty can often be performed under local anaesthetic.

After the operation

Awakening and initial rest

You will rest in the recovery room. The area that has been operated on is swollen and bandaged. Most people go home the same day with instructions and pain relief.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

Please monitor your recovery closely. You must avoid strenuous exercise, swimming and all forms of sexual activity or masturbation for four to six weeks to protect the surgical site.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

A follow-up appointment to check the wound is usually scheduled after a week. A final check-up is booked in six months’ time.

Results following a penile lengthening / penile thickening procedure

Immediately after surgery, it is perfectly normal for the area to be very swollen, feel tight and be discoloured by bruising. Following a penile lengthening procedure or circumcision, the mucous membrane may also feel tight at first. However, the tissue will gradually relax. It is important to follow the instructions regarding sexual abstinence. The final anatomical result is usually assessed after six months, once all internal swelling has completely subsided.

Our specialists in intimate surgery

At The Faculty, we have assembled a hand-picked team of facial surgeons, with every cosmetic procedure being performed by a specialist surgeon with extensive expertise – the cornerstone of your safety.

Who is eligible for surgical penile enlargement?

To undergo surgery with us, you must be over 18 years of age and in good general health. A thorough medical assessment is always carried out before we approve a patient for surgery. For a fat transfer, you must also have sufficient subcutaneous fat of your own to donate (usually from the stomach or thighs) for a body contouring procedure to be possible.

Complications and risks

As with any surgical procedure, there are medical risks. General complications include infection or bleeding. Specifically for penile enlargement using the patient’s own fat, there is a risk that the body will break down some of the transplanted fat, which may require a touch-up procedure to achieve the optimal size, as well as a small risk of unevenness. The risk of reduced potency or erectile function is very low as the surgery is performed outside the corpora cavernosa.

Other treatments in the field of intimate surgery

The perception of the proportions of the male genital area is often closely linked to the surrounding tissue. For this reason, penile lengthening or enlargement is very often combined with gentle liposuction of the pubic area. By reducing the fat pad that sometimes conceals the base of the penis, the penis’s natural length can be further emphasised visually. In addition to purely intimate surgical procedures, The Faculty offers a complete range of body contouring surgery for men. Among the most common combination procedures are surgery for gynaecomastia (enlarged male breasts) and liposuction of the abdomen and love handles to create a balanced and defined profile.

Why consider intimate surgery?

The reasons for seeking genital plastic surgery are entirely personal. Many men who search online for “how to get a bigger penis” or “penis enlargement” do so because they experience genuine distress about their size and are seeking a safe, medical solution for a larger penis. Others experience pain and chafing during erections and sexual activity due to medical conditions such as phimosis, which necessitates adult circumcision. The motivation behind undergoing penile surgery is highly personal, and we listen carefully to your reasons in order to design a treatment plan tailored to your anatomical circumstances.

Frequently asked questions about intimate surgery

Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions about male genital surgery

How can you get a bigger penis without surgery?

Many people wonder about pumps, pills or weights as a way of naturally enlarging the penis. From a purely medical perspective, these methods lack any lasting scientific evidence of effectiveness. To achieve a permanent, actual anatomical change in the girth or length of the penis, surgery is the only proven method.

Is the result of surgical penis enlargement permanent?

Yes, the fat cells that survive the initial healing process following your operation remain permanently. The body naturally breaks down some of the transplanted fat (around 30–50 per cent) during the first few months, which is why the surgeon often slightly overcompensates for the volume during the procedure itself. If necessary, a touch-up treatment can be performed later to add further volume.

Will there be visible scarring after penile surgery?

Our specialists make the incisions with great care to ensure they are as discreet as possible. During a penile lengthening procedure, a small incision is made at the base of the penis, which is often well concealed by pubic hair. For adult male circumcision, the incision is placed very strategically just below the glans. Initially, the scars are red, but they fade over time and become very difficult to detect.

What is the recovery process like after frenulum surgery?

Frenulumplasty is a minor procedure, but the mucous membrane is sensitive. Healing usually takes 3–4 weeks. The stitches are absorbable and normally dissolve on their own. It is absolutely essential to avoid sexual activity during this time so that the lengthened frenulum heals strongly and without tightening up again.

How long is the sick leave following male genital surgery?

If you have a sedentary office job, you can usually return to work within three to five days of having penile surgery. If you have a physically demanding job involving heavy lifting, one to two weeks’ sick leave is often recommended.

Is circumcision performed under local anaesthetic?

Yes, circumcision for adult men due to phimosis (tight foreskin) can certainly be performed under local anaesthetic combined with sedatives, if you prefer to remain awake. However, many patients opt for general anaesthesia for optimal comfort and relaxation. You and your surgeon will discuss this together during the consultation.

Does it affect the ability to get an erection?

No. Whether it involves circumcision, surgical lengthening or fat grafting, the procedures are carried out on the skin, fatty tissue and the external ligaments. The surgery never affects the erectile tissue itself or the deep nerves that control potency, which means that your ability to achieve an erection remains exactly as before.
