For patients who have no body fat reserves of their own, a safe, anatomically shaped silicone implant (buttock implant) is placed within the gluteal muscle to create a distinct projection.
Butt lift
A procedure designed for patients with significant excess skin. The excess skin is surgically removed and the tissue is lifted upwards. A buttock lift is sometimes combined with buttock liposuction to refine the contours.

Before your procedure
Preparing for a safe operation
Once the reflection period is over, your operation will be booked. It is an absolute medical requirement that you are completely nicotine- and alcohol-free for four weeks before and after the operation.
The day of the operation
Safe care at the clinic
You will be admitted. A BBL procedure or a buttock augmentation using implants usually takes 2–4 hours and is carried out under general anaesthesia to ensure optimal patient safety.
After the operation
Awakening and initial rest
The area will be cleaned and checked. It is quite normal for the skin to become temporarily red and for small bumps to appear at the injection sites, but these will disappear quickly. You will be monitored in the recovery room before being allowed to return to your room. Most people go home the same day after resting and having a snack in the ward.
Recovery & healing
Self-care and convalescence guidelines
Physical exertion and sitting directly on your bottom should be avoided initially. You must wear your compression garment around the clock for several weeks, as instructed by your surgeon.
Monitoring & results
Medical check-up and final assessment
A follow-up appointment to check the wound and remove any stitches will take place after 1–2 weeks. A final check-up with your plastic surgeon will take place after around six months.

Who is eligible for a BBL or buttock augmentation?

Why is BBL always written in capital letters?
Searches for "what is BBL", "what is a BBL", "what does BBL mean" and "BBL meaning" are very common. BBL stands for Brazilian Butt Lift. Anatomically speaking, it is a buttock augmentation using the patient’s own fat (known as a Brazilian buttock lift in technical terms). Many people also spell it Brazilian butt lift, Brazilian but lift, Brazillian butt lift or, in everyday speech, simply Brazilian butt, BBLs or BBL ass. Regardless of the name, the principle is the same: transferring fat from one part of the body to the buttocks.
Why is BBL dangerous, and what are the risks?
The question "why is BBL dangerous" is entirely justified. Historically, and at certain clinics abroad (often found through searches for "BBL Turkey"), the procedure has been associated with serious risks, primarily fat embolism. This only occurs if the fat is incorrectly injected deep into or beneath the gluteus maximus muscle, where the major blood vessels run. To minimise these risks, our specialists use only scientifically proven methods where the fat is strictly placed superficially in the subcutaneous fat above the muscle, making the procedure medically safe.
What is a "skinny BBL" and a BBL body?
A common term these days is ‘skinny BBL’. This refers to a buttock augmentation using fat, performed on a patient who has a lower body fat percentage and a lower BMI to begin with. The aim here (for a balanced BBL body) is usually not a drastic increase in volume, but rather a subtle reshaping to fill out, for example, ‘hip dips’. This requires very precise liposuction across several smaller areas to collect enough fat.
Should you opt for fat transfer, buttock augmentation with implants, or buttock fillers?
If you have sufficient body fat, buttock augmentation using fat is often the most anatomically natural choice. For patients who have no fat reserves at all, buttock augmentation using implants is the medically best option for permanent volume. For minor irregularities, buttock augmentation using fillers (the body’s own biostimulation) can be used, although the results of buttock or hip dip fillers are not permanent in the same way as a surgical procedure.

In a buttock lift (gluteal lift), where loose skin is surgically removed, the anatomical lift is permanent, but the skin’s overall elasticity will, of course, continue to be affected by natural ageing and the force of gravity over time.
