What are Mentor implants?

Mentor is one of the world’s oldest, most widely used and best-documented brands in aesthetic breast surgery. Their implants, which are approved by both the US FDA and the European CE, are filled with an extremely stable, medical-grade silicone gel (cohesive gel). This gel is designed neither to leak nor to lose its shape in the event of a shell rupture, ensuring a high level of lifelong safety.

Our techniques using Mentor implants

We use the most well-documented options on the market to ensure the highest standards of patient safety. Mentor offers a wide range of products that allow our plastic surgeons to tailor the shape to your anatomy.

Mentor Memory Gel & Xtra

These implants contain a cohesive silicone gel (Mentor Cohesive Gel). Mentor Memory Gel Xtra, in particular, is designed with a higher fill ratio that feels natural, provides extra projection and minimises the risk of skin rippling.

Mentor Round Gel & Anatomical

Round implants (Mentor Round Gel) are often chosen to create a fuller upper pole and a defined cleavage. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a natural contour with most of the volume in the lower pole, our plastic surgeons recommend teardrop-shaped implants (Mentor Anatomical).

Gentle approach

Whether you choose a round or anatomical implant, our plastic surgeons use advanced techniques that minimise trauma to the tissue. By creating precise pockets for the implants, we work very gently. A meticulous approach is absolutely crucial to reducing bleeding, minimising swelling and ensuring that the implant is integrated into exactly the right layer of tissue for a smooth and long-lasting result.

A clinic full of expertise

At The Faculty, you will meet only plastic surgeons with extensive specialist expertise. We value transparency, patient safety and clinical expertise. Together with you, we carefully go through every detail, from choosing the size to the incision site, so that you feel completely confident in your choice and our care from your very first visit.

What are the costs for Mentor breast augmentation?

The exact cost of your surgery (Mentor implant price / Mentor breast implant price) will be determined during your first consultation. The cost depends on the specific implant model required for your body type and whether the surgery is combined with a breast lift.

Breast augmentation consultation

It all begins with a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons. We will assess your chest and skin elasticity to determine the appropriate implant size using a standard implant size chart. You will be able to try on different sizes, and we will discuss the expected recovery process and any potential risks.

You will receive a specific treatment proposal based on your body. After the appointment, you will have a statutory reflection period of at least 7 days to decide in peace and quiet whether you want to give your consent.

The Evolution of You

Mentor breast implants
Step by step

We have a clear and reliable process, from your first visit right through to your final check-up, to ensure you feel fully prepared.

Consultation

Medical assessment and choice of method

You will meet your surgeon for a thorough consultation. We will assess the anatomy of your chest, discuss your desired shape and evaluate the tissue. You will be able to try out different implants in a trial bra to get a realistic idea of what the final result might look like based on your individual circumstances.

Before your procedure

Preparing for a safe operation

In the weeks leading up to the operation, you must stop smoking and avoid certain medications to ensure optimal blood circulation during the healing process. The evening before, and on the morning of the operation itself, you should shower thoroughly using an antibacterial cleanser.

The day of the operation

Safe care at the clinic

You will be put to sleep safely by our anaesthesia team. The surgeon will make a precise incision, usually in the breast crease to conceal the scar, and create the pocket in which your Mentor implant will be placed (either under or over the chest muscle, depending on your tissue).

After the operation

Awakening and initial rest

You will wake up comfortably in our recovery room. It is normal to feel some tightness and tenderness across your chest. Our experienced healthcare team will provide you with appropriate pain relief, and most patients are ready to go home later that same day.

Recovery & healing

Self-care and convalescence guidelines

A supportive, well-fitting sports bra should be worn around the clock during the initial period. Heavy lifting and strenuous exercise should be strictly avoided during the first four weeks to ensure that the implants can heal undisturbed and settle into the correct position.

Monitoring & results

Medical check-up and final assessment

Around seven days after the operation, one of our nurses will examine your incisions. The final check-up will then be carried out by your plastic surgeon after around six months, at which point we will take photographs and assess your final results.

Results of breast implants using Mentor

The increase in volume itself (Mentor implants results) is visible immediately after the procedure, but your breasts will initially be swollen and sit relatively high on your chest. It usually takes between three and six months for the tissue to soften and for your implants to settle into their natural, permanent position.

Our plastic surgeons specialising in breast surgery

At The Faculty, your surgery will always be performed by a specialist plastic surgeon with extensive experience in breast implants. Performing breast surgery requires millimetre precision and a deep understanding of how different types of tissue react to silicone implants. Our combined team of experts ensures that your operation is performed with the highest technical finesse and patient safety.

Who is eligible for the procedure?

You must be over 18 and in good health to undergo the surgery. This procedure is designed for women who wish to restore or add volume to their bust. During your first consultation, we will carefully assess your general health and the elasticity of your breast tissue. To minimise medical risks and ensure optimal wound healing, it is a strict requirement that you are completely smoke-free before and after the operation.

Risks and complications

All surgery carries medical risks, such as bleeding, infection or asymmetry. As with any use of silicone, there is a general risk of capsular contracture, which means that the scar tissue the body forms around the implant becomes hard. The safety of Mentor breast implants has been extensively studied through decades of clinical research. Their surfaces have been rigorously developed to minimise the risk of any side effects associated with Mentor implants.

Other treatments

If your tissue has lost a significant amount of firmness, often following breastfeeding or weight loss, our plastic surgeons sometimes recommend combining breast augmentation with a breast lift to achieve a balanced result. We also offer fat transfer for patients who wish to undergo augmentation entirely without the use of synthetic materials.

Why consider Mentor breast implants?

The decision to change the size of your breasts is a personal one. For many people, peace of mind and scientific evidence are key factors when choosing the implant material. Mentor is one of the world’s most trusted brands. Some people choose these implants to achieve a specific firmness, a defined teardrop shape or a classic fullness. We always take your body’s unique characteristics into account and listen carefully to your wishes in order to design a bespoke, medically safe surgical plan.

Frequently asked questions about Mentor breast implants

Here we have compiled frequently asked questions and answers about Mentor breast implants

What is the difference between Motiva and Mentor?

Both brands (Motiva or Mentor / Mentor or Motiva) are world-leading and safe. Mentor has a longer history on the market and offers, among other things, firmer anatomical (teardrop-shaped) options. Motiva is known for its innovative surface and highly dynamic gel that adapts its shape to your movements.

What is Mentor Memory Gel Xtra?

This is an updated version of Mentor’s classic round implants, designed to be extra full. This provides a slightly firmer feel and greater projection, which is often sought after by patients who want a more pronounced and fuller look.

How do you determine the size using a Mentor implant size chart?

During the consultation, we measure the exact width of your chest (base width) and the elasticity of your skin. Based on these measurements, we use the manufacturer’s clinical charts to determine the volume (cc) that suits your anatomy perfectly.

Are Mentor implants dangerous?

No. Mentor implants have been rigorously scientifically tested and approved by the highest authorities, including the FDA. There are general surgical risks associated with the operation itself, but the medical-grade silicone in the implants has been developed to be extremely biocompatible and safe.

What is the general experience of Mentor implants (Mentor breast implant review)?

As Mentor implants are among the most widely used globally, patient experiences (Mentor implant experiences) are extremely well-documented and positive. Many appreciate their reliable shape retention and the reassurance offered by the brand’s long history.

Does the operation hurt?

You will experience swelling and a feeling of tightness or soreness across your chest, particularly if the implant has been placed behind the chest muscle. We will provide you with painkillers to make your recovery during the first week more manageable.

How often do you need to change your breast implants?

Today’s modern silicone implants from Mentor do not have a specific ‘use-by date’ and rarely need to be replaced as a matter of routine. Replacement is usually only necessary if your body changes significantly over the years or if a complication such as capsular contracture were to arise in the future.
